Hotel Overview

Situated on Portugals spectacular southern coast, Le Méridien Penina Golf Resort is located between the traditional fishing port of Portimo and the historic town of Lagos. Located in the Algarve region, Portimo features warm seawater beaches and majestic rock formations.
Le Méridien Penina Golf Resort features two conference rooms. With three golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton, including an 18-hole Championship Golf Course, the 360-acre estate includes six tennis courts, a FIFA-sized football field, and a jogging circuit.
Alvor, a city just minutes away from the hotel, offers quaint shops, beautiful 16th century parish churches, and pristine beaches.


The Algarve, with its pleasant climate, is a perfect place for leisure and sports enthusiasts. Golf is particularly high on the list of things to do, and there are numerous courses to test even the most ardent player.
At the hotel there is the exclusive and challenging 18-hole Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course, as well as the Academy Course for beginners and a new 9-hole Resort Course. There is also an extensive driving range and huge putting green.
The beach is four kilometres away from the hotel with complimentary transfers from June to the end of September. The hotel is located on the south coast of Portugal, midway between the traditional fishing port of Portimo and the historic town of Lagos. The nearest town, with shops, local entertainment and a casino, is just four kilometres from the resort at Portimo.
Le Méridien Penina Golf Resort offers a wide range of sporting and leisure facilities that includes three golf courses, an 18-hole Championship Course, a 9-hole Academy Course and a 9-hole Resort Course. There is a Golf Academy for golfers of all abilities, and Penina offers a five-day golf instruction programme. Clinics are conducted as a group, and must be booked in advance. The resort also offers a driving range, practice holes and putting greens.
Further sporting facilities include five hard-surface tennis courts. Fees for tennis courts and lessons at the Tennis Academy are available at the hotels resort reservations centre.

The FIFA-sized football field has been used by teams such as Chelsea from the UK and Borussia Dortmund from Germany for their winter training. There is also a three-kilometre jogging circuit with 12 exercise stations for individual and family runs that is free of charge for guests.
A fully equipped gymnasium is also free of charge, and a full-size snooker table is available at a fee for guests over 18 years of age. Our Archery instructor is available to give lessons to guests upon request.
Water sports are available from June to September, and the Beach Club offers pedaloes, sunbeds, towel service and a restaurant. There is a free shuttle service to and from the beach throughout the season. The outdoor swimming pool is free for residents and includes sunbeds and a towel service.
Penguin Village - Le Méridien Peninas unique facility for children - offers a range of activities including an adventure play area, swimming pool and slide, crche, toys, arts and crafts materials and a Penguin Mac Restaurant, which is open during Penguin Village opening times. Bicycles, film shows and a bouncy castle are further facilities for children. The Village is open from Easter to the end of October, Christmas and New Year seasons, seven days a week.


A choice of five restaurants serve Portuguese, Italian and international cuisine, and the four bars offer a choice of refreshments, snacks and cocktails. Childrens menus, barbecues, theme evenings and formal dinners are all available.
No matter how elaborate the event or important the business, we will do our utmost to ensure every success. We have three conference rooms to accommodate all types of conference, meeting, seminar, workshop and product launch. The main conference room offers translation equipment, audio recording, microphone system, audio-visual equipment and computer rental.
