Hotel Overview
This lodge enjoys a superb setting in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, and is sheltered by the volcanic splendour of the Chyulu Hills. This classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own watering hole which is visited daily by elephants, buffalo and a wide variety of plains game. It is also ideally placed for visits to all the park's prime attractions, including The Mzima Springs, Shetani lava and caves, Rhino Valley and Sanctuary and the Roaring Rocks, which are all about an hour from the lodge. Nairobi is 3 hours' drive and it is about 280 km to Mombasa Airport.||This charming eco establishment is one of the first lodges ever to be built in a National Park. It is cool, tranquil and has a hushed atmosphere which is optimum for game-viewing. The lodge comprises a total of 56 rooms including 5 suites and offers guests a restaurant on-site.||The luxury en suite rooms are located either in a double-storey block overlooking the waterhole, in a series of cottages to the right and left of reception, or in a building dedicated entirely to the lodge's selection of luxury suites. Surrounded by shady gardens, all the rooms enjoy views, either of the waterhole or the Chyulu Hills. Each is tastefully-appointed and features natural volcanic stone walls, a king-size bed or luxurious twin beds and lavish, all-encompassing mosquito-curtaining. They all come with a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a writing/vanity unit and a private veranda. Guests will appreciate the Internet access and TV.||As for activities, the lodge offers numerous game drives, guided walks, bush breakfasts, volcano climbs and trips to Mzima Springs, a set of crystal-clear ponds, fed by the melted waters of Mount Kilimanjaro, in which the many hippos can be viewed from a submerged chamber.
