The hotel was built at the end of the 18th Century and has also been used as a post office, before its current incarnation as a hotel. For many years the hotel lodged travellers coming to Turin on business, to carry out diplomatic missions, to study, or to participate in artistic and cultural events tied to Turin's role as the capital of Regno di Sardegna.
