When To Go To Tossa De Mar

April to October is the best time to visit Tossa de Mar when the temperature ranges from 20 degrees rising to 30 degrees in the summer months.

Tossa De Mar - The Place

Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava is a resort which oozes charm. Its main tourist attraction is the medieval walled Vila Vella built in 1187 to protect the villagers from marauders. With its towers and battlements it looks, from the outside, like a fairy tale castle and inside the walls you’ll find a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets with small shops and dwellings.

Tossa de Mar spreads itself around a wide bay and is surrounded by low green foothills. There are fourteen kilometres of sandy beaches and secluded coves in the area around Tossa de Mar. The Mar Menuda and the Platya Gran beaches have full facilities including showers and toilets. There are a number of aqua sports available including wind surfing, water skiing, fishing and sailing.

The nearby uninhabited Medes Islands, a protected area, is the perfect place for scuba diving. Its crystal clear waters, teeming with marine life will surprise divers with the diversity of species found there.

An interesting attraction is the Sa Riera Park, eight hundred metres from the centre, a man made nature reserve providing different habitats to encourage the proliferation of wildlife.

Tossa de Mar has many bars and restaurants catering for a wide variety of tastes.

Tossa De Mar Nightlife

Tossa de Mar is essentially a family resort and evening entertainment is fairly low key much of it being provided by hotels. Although there are a number of lively bars that remain open after midnight, Tossa de Mar does not provide the dusk to dawn partying so necessary for the eighteen to thirties group. Numerous restaurants provide opportunities for a quiet evening for two.

Tossa De Mar Shopping

Tossa de Mar has many small gift and souvenir shops selling the usual supply of leather goods, ceramics and linens, so loved by tourists seeking holiday mementoes.

Tossa De Mar Eating

Tossa de Mar has a wide variety of restaurants catering for most tastes many serving international cuisine. For traditional Spanish food look no further than the family run fish restaurants with their ‘catch of the day specials’. These are always tasty and are good value. Local wines are pleasantly mellow and inexpensive.
