Sauze d’Oulx is an Italian ski resort in Piedmont, and is part of the vast Milky Way Ski Area. The resort has access to four hundred kilometres of pisted runs which offer good skiing and boarding for all levels of expertise. Lying at an altitude of fifteen hundred metres, Sauze D’Oulx has good snow cover throughout the season where skiing back to the resort is possible. A modern lift system gives quick and easy access to the slopes. The ski schools offer excellent ski tuition from the age of four and board tuition from the age of seven. There are also crèche facilities for babies from thirteen months. The resort has developed around a charming old village where the nightlife is lively, the accommodation is good and where the restaurants serve an eclectic cuisine which caters for all tastes and pockets. Originally an old mining village, Sauze d’Oulx is located in a wide sunny plateau and with almost six hundred pistes, there is surely something for everyone. Beginners can try the nursery slopes near the village or take the lift to Sportina plateau. A bus takes skiers to the lifts in the upper village which then give ease of access to the slopes. Intermediate skiers have a vast choice of slopes with good blues and more challenging reds. Advanced skiers have a variety of terrain with high powder bowls or tree lined lower slopes. There is some exciting off-piste skiing but a mountain guide is recommended. Sauze d’Oulx is popular with snowboarders who can enjoy the varied terrain as well as the snow park with jumps and rails. The ski schools provide excellent tuition from the age of four years in skiing and boarding from seven years.

Sauze d’Oulx has a traditional centre and is mainly traffic free. It has a good range of accommodation to suit most budgets with some hotels and apartments having door step skiing. Restaurants generally serve simple but satisfying food that is fairly inexpensive. Sauze d'Oulx is well known for its vibrant nightlife provided by its bars, pubs and discos. Other recreational activities include a cinema, a skating rink, a bowling alley and a fitness centre.
