La Tania, surrounded by pine forest, lies between Courchevel and Meribel in the Three Valleys area of the French Alps. Having been developed for the 1992 Olympics, La Tania is a modern pedestrianised resort where skiing begins at the apartment door. There are drag lifts and a gondola taking skiers to the local slopes and on to the vast terrain of the Three Valleys which caters for every level of ability. Ski schools provide tuition for adults and for children from three to eleven years. There are limited creche facilities for babies from six months. La Tania is a very family friendly resort offering reasonably priced accommodation and excellent skiing.
La Tania is a fairly peaceful village which offers excellent value for money. Its apartments, hotels and chalets offer modern comfortable accommodation; its traffic free streets make it a safe playground for children and it has easy access to the wonderful skiing and snowboarding offered by the Three Valleys.
La Tania holidays are very popular with families as well as couples of all ages. The variety of slopes provides ideal conditions for all levels of skiing ability from novice to expert. Although there are half a dozen bars, some with live music, groups of young adults may find the evenings a little too quiet.
La Tania ski season lasts from mid December until mid April. It is popular in the summer with rock climbers, hill walkers and mountain bikers.
La Tania, at an altitude of fourteen hundred metres, is a small resort near Meribel and Courchevel in the Three Valleys ski area. Set in woodland, it is an attractive village which is largely traffic free. Apartments and chalets are the main source of accommodation and all offer good modern amenities. There are shops for essential provisions as well as sports and ski hire shops. The number of bars and restaurants is small but they nevertheless provide a good range of menu and a variety of entertainment. There are also four mountain restaurants above La Tania.
La Tania slopes cater for all levels of ability. There is a free lift from the centre of the village to the gentle nursery slopes which are ideal for children and novices. Intermediate and advanced skiers have access to the whole of the Three Valleys. A free bus takes visitors to neighbouring Courchevel and there is a less frequent bus service to Meribel. A Gondola takes skiers from La Tania to the high speed quad chair and from there you can join the Meribel and Courchevel slopes.
The Three Valley area is serviced by almost two hundred lifts with hundreds of kilometres of pistes. Tuition is available for all levels of ability and there is good provision for children. Creche facilities are provided for babies from six months but evidence of vaccinations is a requirement.
La Tania offers a range of recreational activities including ice skating, bowling, dog sledging and paragliding. There is also an indoor climbing wall.
La Tania is a very child friendly resort offering excellent skiing at reasonable cost. Summer visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery while climbing, hiking or biking in the mountainous terrain.
La Tania nightlife is fairly quiet reflecting the family nature of the resort. Restaurants, pubs and bars provide the evening entertainment and although there is often music, La Tania is not a resort that parties into the early hours of the morning.
La Tania has a small number of stores supplying holiday provisions as well as sports and ski hire shops.
La Tania has a limited number of restaurants which nevertheless provide a variety of good wholesome cuisine. Menus include local specialities as well as international cuisine. There are also four mountain restaurants where you can take a break from skiing and eat while enjoying magnificent views.
