Kassandra Possidi Introduction

Kassandra Possidi is on the western coast of the Kassandra Peninsular to the east of Cape Kassandras, one hundred kilometres from Thessalonika with a transfer time from the airport of under two hours. Kassandra Possidi lies in an area of great natural beauty and has a wonderful sandy beach surrounded by pine trees. It is a purpose built resort with a comprehensive range of accommodation to suit most budgets. A Kassandra Possidi holiday offers peace and relaxation, summer sunshine and excellent bathing.

Why Go To Kassandra Possidi?

If you are looking for a retreat from the rigours of modern living, where you can relax in the sun surrounded by natural beauty, Kassandra Possidi is the place for you. Nightlife is low-key and there are few opportunities for shopping but there are some interesting sightseeing opportunities including the old castle of Mende and the sanctuary dedicated to Poseidon.

Kassandra Possidi is essentially a family resort as its relaxed atmosphere and the sandy beach and safe bathing are perfect for the bucket and spade brigade. It is also very popular with couples seeking a peaceful environment.

When To Go To Kassandra Possidi

Although the holiday season lasts from April until October when the temperature ranges from twenty to thirty degrees, summer is the most popular time to visit Kassandra Possidi.

Kassandra Possidi - The Place

Kassandra Possidi, on the south western coast of the Kassandra Peninsular, is situated close to the resort of Kalyves and the inland village of Kasagdrino. Kassandra Possidi has a wonderful south facing stretch of sandy beach which shelves gently into the clear blue waters of the Aegean. The waters are very shallow for a good distance from the shore and are ideal for children and less confident swimmers.

Kassandra Possidi is a very quiet relaxed resort in a peaceful area of the peninsular. Pine trees surround the beach and the hotels and they are framed by low verdant hills. The position of the resort was obviously chosen because of its coastline and, in truth, there is little to do apart from relaxing by the sea or by the hotel pool. The hotels here are excellent, providing visitors with good service and amenities.

If you tire of beach life and wish to add a little more variety to your day, you can visit the lighthouse dating from 1864 which sits on the end of the cape warning of danger. The site of the ancient village of Mende with its old castle is also nearby, close to Kalandra. The sanctuary dedicated to the God Poseidon is found here and is one of the oldest in Greece.

A Kassandra Possidi holiday is possibly one of the most relaxing beach vacations that you could choose. Here you can while away the hours in the knowledge that the sun will shine, the water will be clean and warm and that there will be good food and wine waiting at your hotel when you return.

Kassandra Possidi Nightlife

Kassandra Possidi nightlife is very low-key, reflecting the family nature of the resort. Hotels provide the evening entertainment and there are often live acts and the very popular traditional Greek nights.

Kassandra Possidi Shopping

There is a general paucity of shops in the purpose built hotel complexes and Kassandra Possidi is no exception. If you are desperate to buy the obligatory souvenirs, you will need to take the scenic route round to the east of the peninsular to Kassandra Pefkohori, where you will find a range of shops and boutiques.

Kassandra Possidi Eating

Since Kassandra Possidi is a resort comprised of hotel complexes meals are taken in the hotels. The hotel buffets provide a very wide choice of food with many meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Local wine is good and inexpensive. There are a few tavernas along the beach providing daylong refreshments.
