Unfortunately it is very difficult to obtain a landing pass as the daily numbers are strictly limited and only available to men. It is however a spectacular trip and the waters are ideal for fishing. There are also many archaeological sites in the vicinity for those with an interest in ancient history.
Although there are music bars in Kassandra Kriopigi, it is not a resort known for its wild nightlife. Evenings here are fairly low-key reflecting the family nature of the resort and many holidaymakers enjoy their evenings eating and drinking under the stars, while watching the twinkling lights across the bay on the Sithonia Peninsular. For a better view, stroll up the hill to the winding streets of the charming old town.
Kassandra Kriopigi shopping is rather limited with mini-markets offering essential provisions as well as the usual gift and souvenir shops. Popular holiday mementoes are colourful ceramics, embroidered linens, leather goods, soaps made from olive oil and gold and silver jewellery.
In Kassandra Kriopigi tavernas and small family restaurants serve a variety of food. There are some good traditional fish restaurants where the ingredients could not be fresher, having being caught that day. Eating out in Greece is a pleasure not to be rushed, so don’t mistake the relaxed attitude of waiters for tardy service. A good way to try traditional food is to order Mezedes, the Greek equivalent of the Spanish tapas, which includes a variety of bite-sized fish, meat and vegetables. Local wines are very pleasant and are inexpensive.
Children are always made very welcome in restaurants and their portion size and tastes are usually accommodated.
